Service Committees

Foundation/Club Awards

Decides which of the Foundation projects to support (Women's Opportunity Award, Violet Richardson Award, etc), administers selection of process for awards.

Economic/Social Development and Health

Helps expand opportunities for Economic and Social Development in our community. 

Environment Waterfront and Olympic Discovery Trail

Started and supports the expansion of the Port Angeles Waterfront Trail.  Gives support to environmental issues.

Education

Provides education and vocational scholarships, as well as contributing to other educational items.

Awards scholarships to help students with college, and supports education programs in our community.

International Goodwill

Activities involving countries other than our own. 

Human Rights/Status of Women

In charge of putting together the Making a Difference for Women annual event.

Youth

Gives support to the Port Angeles Boys and Girls Club.

Venture

Soroptimist International Port Angeles Jet Set sponsors and appoints a Jet Set member as a laison for the Venture Club.  Venture is an organization for young business and professional women who are concerned about their community and desire to take an active part in its development. Membership is drawn from women working in such fields as government, banking, education, medicine and social work. Goals of Venture Club members are to:

  • develop leadership ability
  • become aware of and actively involved in community affairs
  • build frinedships with women of similar interests, ages and goals
  • associate and work with Soroptimists who are professional and executive business women in the community
